Comptroller’s Office

The Comptroller’s Office accounts for all financial activities of the Board of County Commissioners. All monies due to the Board and all payments for the Board are performed by the Office. The Office accounts for all capital assets owned by the Board. In addition to paying all bills for the Board, the Office also processes the payroll for the Board’s and Clerk’s employees.

Working in cooperation with the Board’s Budget Office and Purchasing Department, all bills for services and goods provided to the Board of County Commissioners are processed and paid by the Accounts Payable staff.

Accounts Receivable

The Accounts Receivable staff account for all monies due to the Board of County Commissioners.

Capital Assets

The Comptroller’s Office maintains an inventory of all property, buildings, land, and other improvements owned by the Board. The capital assets of the Clerk, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector and Property Appraiser is included with the Board’s property.

The Payroll staff process the payroll for the Board and the Clerk.

Investments

The Comptroller’s Office is responsible for the investment of all Board excess funds. In accordance with the direction provided by the Investment Advisory Committee, excess funds are invested in money market accounts, U.S. Treasuries and government agency bonds.

Annual Financial Reporting

The County’s fiscal year end is September 30. Each year, an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, providing financial information for the Board, Clerk, Property Appraiser, Sheriff, Supervisor of Elections and Tax Collector is prepared by the Comptroller’s Office.
